Burial Ground

East End Road, Preston.

Preston Burial ground is situated on East End Road and maintain the grounds with regular grass cutting, tree trimming etc. Plots can be arranged by contacting the Parish Clerk who will be happy to assist.

The grounds has wild flowers and in spring a abundance of daffodils to the perimeter.
Thank you to Mrs Nicholson and Mrs Foyle who recently contacted me at the office to say what a great job Mike continues to do at the Burial Ground, We always have work to do there and will try to make the area look as good as we can, we love the wild flowers , we have a new blower to assist with grass that the cutter gets on the headstones, we have put new stones along the Older Cremation area , we weed several times a year and do all that we can with our limited finances to keep a balance between a well kept ground and a " country graveyard" which is what residents tell us they want. We would ask that during cutting season people refrain from placing vases, and other memorial items in front of the grave stones as this makes cutting almost impossible and we cannot be responsible for any damage done to them, and as they are important to you thats the last thing we would want.

Lyche gate , cleaned, sanded and repainted for all to enjoy at the East End Burial Ground. Huge thanks to all those volunteers from Cranswick Country Foods who worked so hard to complete the work. The Lyche gate was reroofed in 2018 and we will start on drain pipes and guttering next, you are welcome to sit and spend a moment in the Lyche gate when visiting loved ones especially in bad weather, the Lyche Gate is traditionally the waiting area prior to internments where those attending a funeral would await the coffin and as such important to the village.
