Experienced Parish Clerk & RFO
Preston Parish Council invite applications for an experienced Parish Clerk and Responsible Financial Officer.
Preston Parish Council are looking for candidates with a passion for the community, and knowledge, drive and enthusiasm to build a robust structure for the council's governance and finances.
Experience of local government within the role of Proper Office is preferred.
This is a post of 21 hours per week + 2 hours per month for Council meeting, and the successful applicant will be required to work 3 days per week from the parish office and also attend a monthly Council meeting in the evening. The role may include some weekend work.
Duties will include, but not be restricted to, managing both the Council’s administration and the services it provides; servicing Council meetings, fulfilling the role of financial officer, managing the burial ground, managing two allotment sites; undertaking research, advising Councillors and carrying out other duties as are appropriate to the role.
Candidates should either have obtained the Certificate in Local Council Administration (CiLCA) or be prepared to study and achieve the qualification within 2 years.
The post is subject to a six month probationary period.
Salary is according to the NJC pay scale SCP 20 (£15.75 hourly rate or annual salary £30,296 pro rata) depending on experience and qualifications. This is based on the National Joint Council for Local Government Services 2023-2024 National Salary Award Scales.
